Roadblock Series: Five Reasons We Don't Read The Bible
Hearing from God is a part of our Christian faith. It doesn’t necessarily have to be an audible voice from Him, but knowing his presence and his will for us is key to living out the purpose he has called each of us into.
As I spend more time in the Bible, I find myself more familiar with the sound of His voice which is amazing…BUT (you saw that coming, right?)…
Spoiler Alert: The enemy doesn’t want us to connect with God.
I put together this blog series based on an invitation I had to speak with the women’s Bible study I attend in my town. I will share five roadblocks that might be keeping us from picking up the Bible. While there are many other schemes the enemy likes to use, I hope the five I share will allow you to be more aware of what may be keeping you from going deeper into your relationship with God.
As an introduction to this series, I want to share WHY we should be reading our Bibles regularly. I feel like 2 Timothy 3:16 does a really good job of summing it up!
Let’s break that down a second.
Teaching: where we learn what is right and how to live like God intended for us.
Reproof: where we see the wrong in our life.
Correction: where we learn how to come back to what’s right. (Our compass.)
Training: where we learn how to live like Jesus.
This is all so that we can live smarter and have the abilities to do what God has called us to, whether that be changing diapers all day long or running a corporation, we’ve all been called to something. We want to do it well and the Bible is the tool we need to get it done.
There are many ways the enemy tries to keep us from learning the truth and growing in our faith, in this series, I will cover five roadblocks I have personally encountered on my walk of faith:
Ponder the ways in which the Holy Spirit has used Scripture to teach, reproof, correct and train you.
I hope you will read through these roadblocks and let me know your thoughts in the comments, let’s have a conversation and motivate each other to be in God’s Word!
